A man has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon.
The 36 year old is due to appear at Londonderry Magistrates Court on Monday 30th August.
The charges relate to the serious assault of a man in the Magowan Park area of the city in the early hours of Sunday morning.
All charges will be reviewed by the PPS.
