A man has been arrested in South Belfast on suspicion of a number of offences linked to human trafficking for sexual exploitation, rape and sexual assault.
The 38 year old was detained yesterday evening when police responded to calls of a woman being assaulted outside a property in the area.
A 36 year old woman is being assessed as a potential trafficking victim.
The PSNI is working with partner agencies to try and assist the woman.
Detectives say searches are continuing in the area.
The 38 year old suspect remains in police custody.
