The Southern Relief Road in Newry could take ten years to get up and running.
It could take five years to reach planning stages.
That's according to South Down MLA Jim Wells speaking to Q Radio.
The road was called for to relieve traffic congestion in the city centre.
It was to take traffic from the Warrenpoint area towards Belfast or Dublin, bypassing Newry.
But with the prospect of limited income from the European Union income due to Brexit, the issue is finding the money.
