People in Newtownabbey evacuated during a security alert this morning have now returned to their homes.
The viable pipe-bomb-type device discovered has been taken away for further examination, as the alert is over.
Inspector Arnie O'Neill said: "A viable pipe bomb type device has been recovered and taken away for further examination.
The scene has now been collapsed and evacuated residents can return home.
I am appealing for anyone with information regarding this incident to get in touch with police by calling 101, quoting reference number 504 06/05/18."
Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
