Plans were submitted to Causeway Coast And Glens Borough Council last Thursday in relation to the redevelopment of Coleraine and Ballymena, Northern Regional Colleges.
The project which is being funded by the Department for the Economy is scheduled to be completed by the summer of 2022.
McAdam Design was awarded the design contract for the £84 million capital investment programme last year.
Beverley Harrison, Director of Further Education at the Department for the Economy, said: 'This is a significant step in the development of the new campuses and demonstrates the Department’s commitment to the delivery of first class education and skills across Northern Ireland.'
A pre-application community consultation process was carried out in the Coleraine area late last year.
