Police were attacked in Derry londonderry at the weekend.
Officers came under fire from a firework and other missiles in the Lisfannon Park and Fahan Street area of the city.
It was during what the PSNI called 'a sensitive policing operation'.
No officers were injured and no damage was caused to any police vehicles.
Chief Inspector Paul McCracken said: “I would ask those with influence in the community to use it to bring incidents like these to an end.
“Those who engage in such incidents should also consider the impact on the community and the adverse effect that a conviction could have on their lives in the long term.”
