A security alert in the Beatrice Villas area of Bellaghy has now ended.
The suspicious object - which was found shortly before 8.50am this morning - has been declared as a crude but viable device.
It has been taken away for further forensic examinations.
Residents who were evacuated from their homes have now returned and police would like to thank those affected by this alert for their patience.
