Thousands of Primary Seven pupils are starting to sit transfer tests in Northern Ireland today.
It's the first of five successive weeks of exams by two separate exam boards.
The majority of those sitting the test will take the AQE examination - wanted by most grammar schools.
The last two weeks of exams will cover a separate exam required by some roman catholic schools.
Many pupils will be expected to sit both tests.
The Education Minister ,Peter Weir, has indicated he wants a single test in the future.
Results will be published in January
