The Southern Trust has confirmed a consultant has accepted a position at Daisy Hill Hospital's Emergency Department.
It follows speculation after an email was leaked appearing to indicate a position had been filled.
It's welcome news after staffing struggles posed threats to round the clock opening hours for the A&E.
The consultant will be based at the Newry hospital, spending one day a week at Craigavon Area Hospital.
A Trust spokesperson told Q Radio, the appointment was part of a "regional approach to securing Daisy Hill's Emergency Department."
