Three surfers are in the running for Billabong Ride of the Year at the Big Wave Awards following performances off the coast of Donegal.

The trio were captured surfing impressive waves at Mullaghmore Head in the south of the county.

Conor Maguire from Bundoran can be seen surfing into a wall of water that wouldn't look out of place in the Southern hemisphere.

The video was captured off the Irish coast on February 9th.

County Clare's Peter Conroy was recorded surfing the waves on the same day.

Meanwhile, Will Skudin from Long Beach in New York was recorded from the air as he ducked through the Irish waves on December 28th 2016.

The trio are up against competitors from some of the worlds top destinations including Austalia, Hawaii and Portugal.
