Police warn of multiple ongoing scams

Police across all districts in Northern Ireland are warning members of the public about a number of ongoing scams and con-artists contacting people. 

Over the weekend they've been receiving reports of emails and calls purporting to be from different outlets. 
 

PSNI took to their local facebook pages and said firstly: 

"Folks the HMRC scammers have started again, please spread the word to friends and family, hang up the phone and do not engage!"

It then emerged that people were also pretending to be from TV Licensing and Natwest, as well as sending out a "click on 'bank' scam" to emails. 

By clicking on the link, it requires people to enter their first and fourth numbers of their bank pin, followed by the first and third as there was an "error". 

This results in the perpetrator gaining the full pin. 

In a bid to keep people safe, police have been giving some tips on social media to keep people safe. 

They're also reminding the public that if they are unsure of anyone calling at their home, don't let them in and ask for their ID.

They can then phone QUICKCHECK on 0800 013 2290 to check if they are legitimate or to see who they may be.
