Two men arrested in connection with Danny McClean in North Belfast a week ago, have been released unconditionally.
Police had been granted an extra 48 hours to question the pair aged 38 and 46.
54 year old Mr McClean was shot dead as he sat in a car parked on the Cliftonville Road last Tuesday night.
Detectives believe a lone gunman was involved in his murder.
Last night, a PSNI spokesperson said police enquiries are continuing.
People arrested under The Terrorism Act must either be charged, released unconditionally or reported to the PPS – bail is not permitted under this legislation.
Interviews under arrest are a key part of all investigative strategies and the police service is committed to following all lines of enquiry to keep our communities safe from those who would seek to cause serious harm.
