Linfield moved to the top of the Danske Bank Premiership on goal difference after a 4-1 victory away to Warrenpoint Town last night.

The defending champions replace Coleraine who would return to the summit with a point against Glentoran at the Oval this afternoon.

Recent recruit from Plymouth, Louis Rooney, scored twice at Milltown to make it seven goals in seven games for the Blues ...

Aaron Burns had put Linfield 1-0 up, before Marty Murray equalised with the pick of the goals, curling a beauty past Roy Carroll before half-time.

Rooney's double killed the game after the interval - his first a disputed penalty, the second when former Linfield keeper Alan Blayney fumbled.

Blues centre-back Mark Stafford completed the scoring with a late tap-in.

The action resumes at 3pm today.
