A 55 year old man has been arrested in Newcastle, Co.Down on suspicion of various drug offences, after £50,000 worth of cocaine was found at a house in the South Promenade area.
Inspector Darren Hardy said: “At around 7:05pm, officers from the South Area District Support Team located and stopped a man at the South Promenade area of the town.
The male was arrested on suspicion of various drugs offences.
“A follow-up search was carried out at a property in the South Promenade area, and a quantity of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of £50,000 was recovered.
A sum of money and other drug paraphernalia were seized by police at the scene.
The male was released on police bail pending further enquiries.
"We continue to target criminals who seek to gain from the illegal drugs trade and from the misfortune of others.
Any information we receive is acted upon and I would encourage anyone with information to report it to police to assist us in our efforts.
