A further 16 Covid-19 deaths here - and 527 new infections in the past 24 hours

The Department of Health has confirmed a further 16 deaths here from Covid-19.

12 took place in the past 24 hours.

527 new infections have been detected in the same reporting period. 

The department's death toll since the start of the pandemic has risen to 1,779.

There are currently 775 coronavirus patients in local hospitals.

68 of them are being treated in the intensive care units.
