Omagh police able to identify assailant after they left behind 'custody suite' shoes at scene of crime.
After receiving reports of a theft from a local shoe shop, police arrived to find the assailant had left behind their own shoes.
"When we arrived we recognised the shoes as being the same type we issue to our 'guests' in the custody suite," PSNI Omagh wrote on their Facebook page.
Officers say they were able to swiftly identify the alleged thief who "had not long checked out" of police custody.
"We located our suspect a short time later and he was arrested...wearing the stolen shoes," the force's local social media account continued.
"Following interview he was charged and will be making an appearance in Court in the coming weeks for his troubles."
The Police were also quick to thank their latest crime-fighting tool..
"It's not too often I have much positive things to say about the fine attire we issue in Custody....this time though it cracked the case!"
