The Alliance Party's David Ford has been banished from the most senior lay role in the Presbyterian Church.
South Antrim MLA David Ford has been struck off as an elder at Second Donegore Presbyterian Church.
In 2013 many in the congregation strongly disgreed with his and the Alliance Party's support for same sex marriage.
So back then he voluntarily stepped down from being an active elder.
But Templepatrick Presbytery has now confirmed that situation is permanent.
However they added David Ford remains an elder "in good standing in the Presbyterian Church in Ireland" -
