A Book of Condolence has been opened in memory of former deputy First Minister, Martin McGuinness.

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council launched the book in The Grange, Omagh and the Townhall, Enniskillen, yesterday.

Chairperson of the council, Mary Garrity was the first to sign it.

As today marks the day that Martin McGuinness will be buried, Councillor Garrity says:

"it's a sad day for a lot of people on this island and it's a divisive day also, for people that are touched with mixed emotions and I think we have to be respectful for all emotions".

She described Martin McGuinness's political journey as "remarkable" and that she believed personally that it "ended with a genuine desire for peace and reconciliation in this land".

As he will be laid to rest in his hometown of Derry today, Mary Garrity says we must use this day as a time for reflection:

The Book of Condolence will be available for the public to sign in Omagh and Enniskillen until Friday 14th April.
