Concerns DUP Tory deal could undermine Westminster's NI impartiality

There are concerns an agreement between the DUP and the Conservative Party could undermine Westminster's impartiality in the peace process.

DUP Leader, Arlene Foster will meet the Prime Minister on Tuesday to discuss how her party can help support her minority government.

However, speaking on Sky News North Belfast Sinn Fein MLA, Gerry Kelly has said: "Theresa May actually needs to read it - the Good Friday agreement and the St Andrew's agreement and realise what duties she has, despite all the difficulties in Britain to what is an international agreement".

Labour Shadow Foreign Secretary, Emily Thornberry commented that: "we're heading for the marching season, there have been times when the Secretary of State has had to step in in order to ensure that peace is kept on the streets".

Adding, "obviously nobody wants to see a situation where the Secretary of State is embarrassed and feels that he has to trade off the coalition with potential problems in Northern Ireland".
