The campaign to keep Daisy Hill's Accident & Emergency a 24-hour service has taken a different direction with activists looking for cross-border support.
Daisy Hill Action Group's garnering the backing of local businesses to put the case to Ireland for a cross-border acute facility.
Staff shortages may force cut opening hours at the Newry hospital's A&E in the long-term.
Spokesperson for the group, Francis Gallagher, says the Southern Trust is now realising the problem's more widespread.
He says the region needs a cross-border solution:
