Director of Corporate Services and Governance was named Public Finance Professional of the Year at this year’s CIPFA Northern Ireland Awards Ceremony held on 11 October in Riddell Hall, Belfast.
Fermanagh and Omagh District Council's Senior Management Team has scooped a top public finance award.
Joan McCaffrey, was named Public Finance Professional of the Year, at an awards ceremony in Belfast last week.
She scooped the award in "recognition of her outstanding service to public finance".
"Nominated by her colleagues in the Association of Local Government Officers (ALGFO) NI, Mrs McCaffrey was commended on the night for the tremendous contribution she has made to local government throughout her career which spans some 34 years - a fitting tribute to an outstanding Officer whose career will come to a close in December of this year," a statement from the local government body read.
In presenting the Award to Mrs McCaffrey, Brian Roberts FCPFA, CIPFA President, said the award was in recognition of a career entirely dedicated to the service of local government and by association to the public.
"She always displayed a fierce loyalty to her staff and her leadership skills engendered that same sense of loyalty from those who were and are fortunate to work with her," he said,
"Her sense of loyalty was also borne out by the fact she was willing to delay her retirement to ensure that the transition from the legacy Council to the new Council was as seamless as possible," he added.
