Fermanagh: Children 'drugged and sold for sex' almost 20 years ago

It’s been claimed that children as young as 12-years-old at a Fermanagh Care Home were drugged and sold for sex almost 20 years ago.

When staff at Brindley House in Killadeas tried to intervene they were allegedly threatened by criminal gangs.

The story is the latest in a number of abuse revelations by the Impartial Reporter’s Rodney Edwards.

Rodney told Q Radio 11 men were arrested at the time on suspicion of organised child abuse -but there were no prosecutions:

An alleged victim has told the Impartial Reporter that a gang of criminals allegedly prostituted teenagers from the home,  bringing them to houses around Fermanagh and other parts of Northern Ireland where it is claimed they were drugged and repeatedly raped by men.

The newspaper says her claims are backed up by two former Brindley employees.

'Laura' - whose name has been changed to protect her identity - told the paper: "You were being prostituted out. You were in a relationship with this person who’s portraying to be this person, but you were being prostituted out to all their friends and all their contacts... at 13".

She says is now prepared to speak with specialist detectives who are currently reviewing historical child sexual abuse allegations in Fermanagh:

“Yeah I am, big time" she said. "I am a mother now myself and I wouldn’t let anyone harm my children. This needs to be stopped from
ever happening again,”.
