All this week, Q Radio has been focusing on people affected by suicide in some way.
This series of special reports is by Gillian McDade.
Barry started self harming and contemplating suicide.
It’s taken courage for Barry to speak out about his fight with alcohol. He was gripped by it, due to low self esteem.
He slipped into self harming because he couldn’t cope.
There are some dark days.
But all credit to Barry who was keen to seek help. He now attends the Niamh Louise Foundation.
If you want advice or support, the Foundation’s details are online – or if you are in crisis, contact the Samaritans on 116 123 or Lifeline on 0800 808 8000.
