Jim Donegan's family say they want 'no retaliation' for his murder

The family of a man killed outside a school in west Belfast say they want 'no retaliation, only justice' for his murder.

Jim Donegan was shot up to eight times as he waited for his 13 year-old son on the Glen Road on December 4th.

Police are still searching for the father of three's killer, who was spotted on CCTV walking in the area beforehand.

The suspect was wearing a high visibility jacket at the time, with the word 'security' written on the back. 

Mr.Donegan's funeral got underway this morning, before a service at Roselawn Crematorium. 

Father Martin Magill spoke to mourners at St John the Evangelist Church on the Falls Road this morning. 

"We are truly heartbroken by Jim being taken away from us in such a cruel, cold way but we wish for no retaliation, only justice for Jim," Fr Magill said.

"Those words come from Jim's family as they prepared for this Requiem Mass. They are heartfelt and sincere."

He went on to say "His murder in any circumstances was wrong but even more so in the presence of children who were nearby and witnessed the traumatic scene, one that will stay with them for the rest of their lives."
