Police in Omagh have taken to social media to ask people not to report any crimes on pages such as Twitter or Facebook.

It's following a recent misleading media report.

They posted a statement on social media to clarify the protocol when reporting a crime.

People are reminded that the sites are not monitored at all times, therefore if a crime is reported it may not be seen.

The police also revealed that 6 enquiry offices across Northern Ireland will close from April 3rd.

Stations in Enniskillen and Omagh will not be affected by closure but new opening hours have been introduced.

Enquiry stations in these areas can be visited between 11am and 7pm, Monday to Friday and they will close for lunch between 3pm and 3.30pm.

During any hours that they close, the PSNI wants to remind the public that they can be contacted 24 hours a day by phoning 101 or 999 in an emergency.
