Local wind farm in Fermanagh will donate £50,000 a year for community fund

The launch of a new community fund will bring a financial boost for local organisations in Fermanagh. 

Mantlin Limited, the owners of the Slieve Rushen Wind farm in southwest Fermanagh have announced the launch today, in conjunction with the Fermanagh Trust.

Mantlin Ltd will be donating £50,000 a year to the Fermanagh Trust to support the initiative and hope to continue the funding throughout the lifetime of the windfarm's operation. 

Applications for the fund will be open through the Trust to community and voluntary organisations/projects which aren't politically affiliated and are located within a ten-mile radius of the Slieve Rushen Wind farm. 

Lauri McCusker, the Director of the Fermanagh Trust said the fund will have a positive contribution to the community: 

Former Deputy First Minister, Arlene Foster also attended the launch. 

She said it's a "great initiative", especially for small community groups: 

The fund will be able to provide the local community with the opportunity to access financial support to contribute to community life and development in Fermanagh.
