Maintenance works to the Willow trees on the Queen Elizabeth Boulevard in Enniskillen began yesterday.

The works, being undertaken by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council involves the reduction of the trees' canopy or crown and a significant reduction in the trees' height.

The trees will also be reshaped into a more formal style in keeping with an urban setting.

Such maintenance works are necessary to ensure the effective long-term management of the trees and to contain the trees within the bounds of the site.

Professional tree specialists will be carrying out the jobs, in compliance with health and safety standards.

It's expected that it will take 3 days to complete subject to favourable weather conditions.

Works will also take place during off peak hours to minimise disruption.

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has apologised for any inconveniences that people may experience during this time.
