A man has been arrested on suspicion of a number of offences after an elderly woman was robbed in north Belfast.
It happened at a house in the Chichester Avenue area shortly after 5.05am this morning.
A number of items were taken during the incident and the property was ransacked.
The older woman, who was inside the property at the time, was not injured but was left badly shaken as a result of the incident.
The 18-year-old suspect was arrested a short time afterwards in the area on suspicion of burglary with intent to steal, going equipped for burglary, possession of a Class B controlled drug and possession of a Class C controlled drug.
He remains in police custody at this time.
A spokesperson for the PSNI says, "Our enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time of the incident to contact on 101, quoting reference number 294 27/5/19.
“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
