Police in Derry/Londonderry are investigating an incident in the city during which a wheel brace was reportedly used to smash the rear window of a car on Duncreggan Road during the early hours of today at around 1.10am.

A verbal altercation between a man and a woman is reported to have occurred just before the damage was caused to a silver Volkswagen Golf.

Police subsequently arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of criminal damage, common assault and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, and he remains in custody at this time.

Sergeant Garth Bennett is appealing for witnesses, in particular, anyone who captured the incident on their dash cam to call 101 and quote reference number 103 of 24/08/22.
