A man has been attacked by a group of 8 men understood to have been armed with metal bars and bats in Coleraine.
It happened in the Heights area at around 2am this morning.
A 30-year-old man arrested in connection with the attack has been released on bail.
A spokesperson for the PSNI said: "Detectives in Coleraine are appealing for information after a man was assaulted in the town early this morning, Sunday 4 June.
"The victim, who is 28, was set upon by a group of around eight unknown men in the Heights area at around 2am. These males are understood to have been armed with metal bars and bats.
"A 30 year old man was subsequently arrested and questioned but has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
"Detectives are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed this crime or anyone with information that could assist the investigation. They can be reached by calling 101, quoting reference number 240 04/06/17.
"Information can also be given anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111."
