A man's understood to have been attacked by a group of men in North Belfast, one of whom believed to have had a metal bar.
Sometime around 6.30pm, the man in his forties was targeted by two/three men in the Woodvale area of the city.
Police say the victim was treated in hospital as a result, for injuries to his head and his hand.
Detective Sergeant Adam Ruston is appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or to anyone with information to contact PSNI on the non emergency 101 number, quoting reference 1367 01/08/18.
