South Down MP Margaret Ritchie has contacted the UK Emergency Medicine chief.
It follows the threat of short-term closure of Daisy Hill's Emergency Department.
The Southern Trust says it's because they're struggling to recruit senior permanent staff.
The announcement has caused anxiety in the community, with MLAs saying the vital service must be maintained.
Medical Director at the Trust, Doctor Richard Wright, says The Trust "is committed" to keeping Daisy Hill's A&E open.
