Police in East Belfast have arrested a 40-year-old man following an attempted armed robbery at an off-license on the Holywood Road, last night
It was reported at approximately 9.05pm that a man had entered the premises and approached the counter armed with a suspected firearm and demanded money.
The man was subsequently arrested and remains in police custody at this time.
Detective Sergeant McVeagh said: “Our enquiries are continuing and I would ask that if anyone was in the area at the time the incident took place, or who may have information that can assist our investigation".
