Police say lives could have been lost in arson attack on house in Dungannon

Police are treating a fire at a house in Dungannon on Saturday afternoon as arson with intent to endanger life.

The attack happened in the Dunlea Vale area of the town just after 4.30pm, but no one was home at the time.

The PSNI says had anyone been in the house, there could have been loss of life and the blaze could have spread to adjoining properties.

Police have issued this appeal:

Detectives are appealing for information following the report of an arson attack on a property in the Dunlea Vale area of Dungannon on Saturday afternoon.

Inspector Knipe said: “We received a report of a fire at a house just after 4.30pm

“Luckily, there was no one home at the time of the incident.

“This fire could have resulted in serious injuries, even loss of life and could easily have spread to the adjoining properties. 

“We are treating this as arson with intent to endanger life and I am asking anyone with information, or who noticed any suspicious activity around that time, to contact us on 101 quoting reference number 1494 of 17/07/21.”
