Racers terrorising residents of Killeeshil and Galbally

Boy racers are causing a nuisance in forested areas around Galbally and Killeeshil.

Residents say they're frightened to travel on certain roads at specific times, due to speeding quads, bikes and cars.

Often, parents are unaware that their children are involved in anti-social behaviour.

Councillors Sean Mc Guigan and Mickey Gillespie are urging the young people to stop.

They say it’s an increasing problem in the areas.

“Some families and individuals are scared to travel on certain roads at different times due to their fears of been struck by these vehicles being driven at excessive speeds. We all know that it is against the law for people to sell or provide these vehicles to these children,” explains Cllr McGuigan.

And Cllr Gillespie says some of these vehicles are been randomly stored or left at outlying lanes and farms when not in use.

“Therefore it is important that if any person knows where these vehicles are been left that they contact relevant authorities to have them taken away, otherwise contact one of us and we will do our best to deal with these vehicles on your behalf,” he says.

The elected representatives say they will do their best to help people resolve or lessen what is becoming an antisocial issue.
