A fire has broken out at a primary school in Derry Londonderry this evening in a suspected Arson Attack.
It's believed to have been started at an outdoor shed at Good Shepard primary and Nursary on the Dungiven road.
The blaze spread to the roof of the school and has caused thousands of pounds of extensive damage.
It's understood the shed was filled with bikes and play equipment.
The roof is said to be extensively damaged with at least one room in the main school building also effected.
Local Councillor Chirstoper Jackson says it's devastating for everyone in the community just weeks before the start of term.
“It’s very worrying that this fire has taken place just a few weeks before the new school term starts" said Cllr Jackson.
“I visited the scene tonight and I would like to commend the work of the Fire Service who dealt with this fire .And would appeal to anyone in the community who has any information on how this fire started to bring it forward to the investigations team”
