A woman and young child have escaped injury after a fire at a house in North Belfast.
The blaze broke out this morning in the garden of a property in Ballysillan Avenue.
The fire spread to the side of the property and caused smoke damage.
Damage was also caused to a nearby electric box and gable wall.
Police believe the fire was started deliberately.
A Police Spokesperson said:
“We are appealing to anyone with any information regarding the incident or who saw anything suspicious in the area to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 299 8/9/18. Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
I am shocked; I am angry; I am appalled. Just away from the scene of another attack in Ballysillan Avenue. Those behind these attacks will fail miserably in trying to intimidate locals from their homes.
