Mark Allen - NI Open champion 2021

Q Radio Sport

Antrim's Mark Allen has won the Northern Ireland Open snooker tournament after a night of drama at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast.

The twists and turns ended with the home hero clinching victory against John Higgins, 9-8 in a nail-biting final frame decider.

It was an incredible week for the 35-year-old who hit a maximum break 147 in the first round, went on to knock out champion from the past three years Judd Trump and ultimately stage an incredible comeback to take the last three frames and beat all-time great Higgins.

It looked like Allen's name was on the Alex Higgins Trophy - it is now!

As well as £70,000 first prize, he also gets £5k for the highest break.

On Sunday night in Las Vegas - early Monday here - there was glory for Rory, finishing 25 under par:
