Man dies after getting into difficulty in sea off Essex coastal town

A man has died after getting into difficulty in the sea off Frinton, Essex Police have said.

The force was contacted shortly before 2.10pm on Thursday by the ambulance service, which reported that a man had got into difficulty in the sea and had been brought ashore.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

An eyewitness told the Press Association there were around 10 emergency vehicles, including an air ambulance, responding to the incident.

Police have asked members of the public to avoid the area.

It comes a day after a boy became the third person to die as a result of a separate incident to the south, in West Mersea, on Wednesday 22 July, which also claimed the lives of a 41-year-old and her 15-year-old daughter.
