Belfast Maritime Festival 2019: Everything you need to know

Belfast Titanic Maritime Festival is sailing into town this Bank Holiday weekend! 

The magnificent masts of Tall Ships will return to Belfast quayside from Saturday 25 May through to Monday 27 May

Sailortown, Donegall Quay, Queen's Quay and Titanic Quarter will come alive at 10am each day with an array of nautical fun and games, food stalls and demos, live music and a treasure trove of performances. This popular family event is FREE and offers something fun for all ages. 

Quayside Family Fun

Activity across the various quaysides includes:

  • Water adventure in Abercorn basin with the chance to sail a kayak or paddleboard
  • Yoga try-it sessions on the river Lagan, at Donegall Quay
  • Wee Critters, Mini Explorers and more family fun over at Donegall Quay’s Big Fish, the gateway to the Maritime Mile
  • The return of the Maritime Market at Queens Quay, with something to tempt your taste buds
  • The chance to try your hand at building a land yacht, learn how to create crazy bubbles with Scientific Sue, or have fun at the beach at Queens Quay
  • A host of local musical talent and captivating quayside street performers across the quays.

Visiting vessels and ships

There's a host of ships and vessels attending this year's festival. Some of those include:

  • Mexican Naval Vessel 'Cuauhtémoc'
  • Royal Naval vessel 'HMS Penzance'
  • Irish Naval Vessel ‘Samuel Beckett’
  • Tall ship Pelican of London
  • Ketch rigged Dutch sailing barge 'Volharding'
  • 1960's old style tug boat 'Brocklebank'
  • Four French Naval Vessels - BE Chacal (Open Saturday only). BE Jaguar, BE Leopard and BE Tigre (These three vessels will not be open to the public during the event).

How to get there

Walk or cycle - Getting to and from the Maritime Festival could not be easier, you can cycle to the event and avail of the permanent cycle parking across various sites. Or why not walk along the quaysides from Sailortown, Clarendon Dock to HMS Caroline and enjoy a stroll along the idyllic maritime mile and enjoy what there is on offer.

Gilder Service - Alternatively, hop on the Glider from the city centre bringing you directly into the heart of Titanic Quarter or come by train to Yorkgate Station or Titanic rail Halt. More details here. 

Car Parking - There is no dedicated car parking for the event, but festivalgoers are encouraged to use city centre car parks, those within Titanic Quarter or the NCP at Corporation Street (£5 daily rate during the festival).
