Police say they'e not treating the discovery of a body on a beach in Newcastle as suspicious.
It was discovered by a man walking the Co.Down coast at around 5am on Thursday morning.
Detectives say they can't identify the man yet, but they believe he's between 50 and 70 years of age.
The white man was bald on top with short grey hair and of a medium build, and was wearing a shirt from Ballybunion Golf Club in Co.Kerry.
Detective Sergeant Bell said: “We have carried out a number of enquiries at the scene and in the general Newcastle area today and at this stage we do not believe the death of the man to be suspicious.
Unfortunately we have been unable to identify the deceased and I am appealing for assistance from the public.
If anyone can help us to identify this gentleman, or has information that could help with our enquiries, please contact officers in Ardmore.
