Frampton could not repeat his points victory in the first fight as Santa Cruz claimed a narrow win.
One judge scored it a draw, but the other two favoured Santa Cruz 115-113.
It's the first time Carl Frampton has lost in his professional career.
After the fight Frampton said he would like Santa Cruz to come to Belfast for the third meeting between the pair.
