Carrick exit County Antrim Shield after defeat to PSNI

The Shield quarter-final draw is on Saturday with the ties to be played next month

Carrick Rangers have crashed out of the County Antrim Shield after losing 4-1 at home to Championship side PSNI. 

They were the only Premiership casualties in last night's first round.

Glentoran needed an extra-time goal from Jonathan Smith to beat Ballyclare Comrades 1-0 at Dixon Park.

Glens caretaker manager Roy Coyle hopes it will kick-start a revivial for the east Belfast team...



Elsewhere, holders Ballymena had a 3-0 home win against Harland and Wolff Welders while Linfield beat Donegal Celtic 4-0 at Windsor Park.

Crusaders won 2-0 in Larne and Cliftonville were the night's top scorers, beating Bangor 7-1 at Solitude with a hat-trick for Gary Donnelly. 

Ards were 3-1 winners against Knockbreda in Bangor and Albert Foundry had a 1-0 victory away to Newington.
