Linfield remain two points behind Danske Bank Premiership leaders Ballymena United following a 2-0 derby victory at Cliftonville on Saturday.

The Blues finished with 10 men after striker Michael O’Connor was sent off within five minutes of coming on as a sub.

Ballymena beat Newry City 3-1 at Warden Street. 

Crusaders snatched a 1-0 win at 10-man Glentoran with a disputed late penalty, converted by David Cushley.

There was further controversy when Glens skipper Marcus Kane was sent off.

The Crues go third above Glenavon who were held to a 3-3 draw by Institute at Mourneview Park for the second time this month.

Basement club Ards thrashed Dungannon Swifts 3-0 at Stangmore Park.

Coleraine were 1-0 winners away to Warrenpoint.

 

 

 

The action resumes on New Year's Day with the six fixtures including defending champions Crusaders at home to league leaders Ballymena.
