Linfield Euro dream shattered but Healy praises players for "incredible journey"

Linfield have narrowly missed out on becoming the first Irish League team to reach the group stages of a European competition. 

They went down 2-1 against Qarabag in Azerbaijan on Thursday evening in their Europa League play-off second leg.

It finished 4-4 on aggregate, but the Blues lose on away goals. 

Shane Lavery was again on target for David Healy's men.

The manager said it has been a monumental effort from his team...

Healy says the players now need to push on and retain their league title...

 

 

Kenny Shiels is preparing for his debut as Northern Ireland women's manager. 

The Euro qualifying campaign kicks off on Friday night against World Cup quarter finalists Norway at Seaview (7.45pm).

Glenavon host Coleraine In the Danske Bank Premiership (8pm).

Meanwhile, Carrick welcome Ballymena United, who've signed midfielder Aaron Burns after he left Coleraine.

Also at 7.45, Derry City kick-off away to Waterford in the League of Ireland.
