100 new jobs announced for Londonderry and Strabane

100 new jobs have been created in the North West following a £5.6 million investment.

A third of the new positions have already been filled with recruitment underway for the remaining roles.

The posts span a range of industries including software development, engineering, marketing and finance.

Once in place they are expected to contribute over £2.5million in additional salaries to the local economy.

Skeoge-based business FAST Technologies has invested over £1million alongside Invest NI to create 16 new jobs.

The roles will include project managers, electrical, mechanical, design and automation engineers, and software developers. 

Mechanical Installations and Maintenance based in Carrakeel Industrial Park have announced a £753,286 investment as part of a planned growth in sales.

The business says it’s targeting new contracts in data centres, pharmaceutical plants and distilleries, as well as industrial and construction-related areas in the next couple of years.

Invest NI has offered the company £80,000 to support the recruitment of 16 additional welders and fabricators, with 11 of the positions already in place.

Recruitment for eight new sales roles at Strabane’s Meritcom is expected to begin in the coming months as part of a plan to drive sales in Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland.

Precision Group in Eglinton is to create 11 new jobs as part of a £644,000 investment to grow its customer base in Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland.

Retail Systems Technology Limited, also based in the County Londonderry village, is creating eight new jobs as part of a £554,000 investment to drive sales of its Point of Sale systems.

Fashion company Junk Kouture in the North West Science Park is creating six new jobs as part of a £403,000 investment to put additional resources in place to expand its events business model.

Twelve new roles have been created at Click Energy in Timber Quay to expand its sales into the Republic of Ireland, with six of the positions already in place.

Gradon Architecture in Artillery Street is creating six new jobs as part of a £348,000 investment to accelerate the growth of the company.

Meanwhile, two England-based software businesses, Launch Pad and Peoplesafe, have announced plans to open new offices in the city, creating 16 new jobs over the next year.   

Economy Minister Simon Hamilton said: “Every business plays a role in our economic success and strengthening and growing Northern Ireland’s private sector requires all stakeholders to work in partnership towards the achievement of a common goal.

“I welcome the joined-up approach to economic development in the North West and the contribution the Council and local stakeholders such as the Chamber the Council are making, alongside Invest Northern Ireland, to rebuild and re-balance our economy.”
