300 new jobs are coming to Belfast thanks to a London based IT firm. Tullett Prebon will create the posts over the next three years.

Three hundred new technology jobs are to be created in Belfast.

The Tullett Prebon financial services posts will contribute over £9.9 million in salaries to the economy each year, Stormont's first and deputy first ministers said.

The organisation plans to establish a major technology centre in Northern Ireland to support its international growth strategy, creating the new positions over the next three years.

Arlene Foster said: "Tullett Prebon leads the way in the financial services sector and the company's decision to establish its new IT development centre in Belfast is a vote of confidence in the ability and quality of the Northern Ireland workforce.

"The Belfast technology centre is an integral part of the company's global growth strategy and will serve to grow its business and help to deliver innovative solutions to its customers."

Martin McGuinness said it was terrific news.

"Tullett Prebon plc is one of the world's leading interdealer brokers and has a presence in 24 countries and 2,700 people across the globe.

"They are serious global players and their decision to locate in the north of Ireland is testament to the quality of our IT workforce and proven performance record."

The new jobs will offer an average salary of £33,000, providing excellent opportunities for graduate and experienced IT professionals as well as school leavers.

Invest Northern Ireland has offered Tullett Prebon over £2 million towards the creation of the new jobs, with the Department for the Economy's Assured Skills programme providing £400,000 for associated training.
