Armagh superfan to cycle 700 miles for Alzheimers charity

An Armagh Game of Thrones and football fan is putting his two passions together for charity.

Rodney Leiper will cycle seven-hundred miles in just eight days.
The forty-six year-old will take in filming locations from the popular TV drama.
He'll also stop at Northern Ireland football stadiums to raise money for Alzheimer's Research UK.
Mr Leiper will meet some footballers as well as charity supporters on his trip.
The bike journey starts tomorrow from his home in Portadown.
Mr Leiper says although he's cycled for charity before, this trip will be epic.

Splitting the journey into two halves starting with Game of Thrones, Rodney will syscle to at Tollymore Forest in Castlewellan, Newcastle - the setting of The Haunted Forest.

He'll then cycle over to Castle Ward at Strangford Lough in Downpatrick - the location of Winterfell, the backdrop for the series pilot and much of season one.
Rodney will then head to the River Quoile in County Down, which is known as The Riverlands in Game of Thrones, home to the Tullys.
Lastly he'll ride to Inch Abbey in Downpatrick, where Robb Stark’s camp was located in season one and where he was proclaimed the King of the North.

After a night in Belfast, Mr Leiper will cycle around Antrim Coast, which is featured in many scenes, and onto the Cushendun Caves, where Davos Seaworth and Lady Melisandre landed ashore in season two and the location of the birth of the shadow baby.
From there he will head to the Ballintoy Harbour, the setting of Theon’s return to the Iron Islands, and Dunluce Castle, known as the House of Greyjoy.

On day three, Rodney plans to go to Portstewart Strand, from season five, and Downhill Beach, known as Dragonstone, and then a long ride southwest to Fermanagh. He’ll visit the Marble Arch Caves Geopark, which appears in the show when Beric Dondarrion hides out there in season 3. 
Rodney will then travel the long road east back home to Portadown for a night’s rest at home.

The next day he’ll begin the second half of his trip, heading to Portadown FC’s Shamrock Park, Glenavon FC's Mourneview Park and Ards FC playing their home games at Bangor FC’s Clandeboye Park.

On day six Rodney will cover Glentoran FC’s The Oval, Linfield FC’s Windsor Park, Cliftonville FC’s Solitude, Crusaders FC’s Seaview, Carrick Rangers FC’s Taylor's Avenue and the Ballymena Showgrounds before heading to Coleraine Showgrounds on day seven.
On day eight, Rodney will head to Ballinamallard FC’s Ferney Park, Dungannon Swifts FC’s Stangmore Park, before ending the challenge back at Shamrock Park.
