Bono gives surprise performance at Snow Patrol gig in Bangor

More than 35,000 Snow Patrol fans were treated to a surprise performance by Bono last night.

The U2 star was invited on stage by Gary Lightbody to sing the iconic song 'One' at the gig in Ward Park in Bangor.

The performance is believed to be a tribute towards  the relationship between Northern Ireland and the Republic.

 

 

The concert also saw performances from other local talent including Foy Vance, Two Door Cinema Club, and others.

Fans have been sharing their delight following the gig on social media.

 

 

On twitter some shared messaged such as "seeing Bono last night made it better than I possibly imagined!" , and "What a gig. What a day. All the positivity, the videos, the lights, the images and footage on-screen, the message, Bono."

 

 

Tribute was also payed to murdered journalist Lyra McKee during a montage for the song ' Take Back the City'.

Gary Lightbody is joining the last day of peace-walk from Belfast which is due to finish at guildhall Square tomorrow afternoon.
