A full briefing on the Southern Relief Road should be given as a matter urgency.

Newry and Armagh MLA Justin McNulty says locals are frustrated with the lack of action.

The road was called for to relieve traffic congestion in the city centre.

It was to take traffic from the Warrenpoint area towards Belfast or Dublin, bypassing Newry.

But it's understood that funding from the E.U will be limited due to Brexit.

South Down MLA Jim Wells said the Southern Relief Road in Newry could take ten years to get up and running and five years to reach planning stages.

Now the fear is that as Northern Ireland tightens its purse strings, the project could be curbed or no longer considered a priority.
